Example: the results grid filled in

  1. In round 1, Rolling Thunder (team 1) beat Late Starters (team 10) 21-13.
  2. Go to Rolling Thunder's row and find column 10: write 21-13 (highlighted in green below). Then go to Late Starters' row, column 1, and write the same game from their side: 13-21. Each team's own points always come first in its row.
  3. At the end, count each row's wins and losses. Each team has 9 games, so W + L = 9. Rank by wins; when teams are tied, use your tiebreaker (here, point differential). Rolling Thunder finished first at 6-3.

How a 10 team round robin works

In a 10 team round robin, every team plays every other team once. That's 9 games for each team and 45 games in all, spread over 9 rounds with 5 games per round.

With an even number of teams, everyone plays every round, so there are no byes.

For a weekly league, each round is one week: 9 rounds is a 9 week season. For a one-day event, play the rounds in order. If you have fewer than 5 courts, play each round's games in the order listed before starting the next round.

Want each team to play everyone twice? Play the whole schedule again with the teams swapped, for 18 rounds and 90 games. The second page of the PDF is a results grid with a team list, so you can record every score and add up wins and losses for standings.

Common questions

How many games are in a 10 team round robin?

45 games. Each team plays 9, and every game involves two teams, so it's 10 × 9 ÷ 2 = 45.

How many rounds or weeks does it take?

9 rounds. Every team plays once per round.

How many courts or fields do I need?

5 to play a whole round at once. With fewer, play the round's games one after another; the schedule still works, it just takes longer.

How do I break ties in the standings?

Most leagues use head-to-head result first, then point differential, then points allowed. Decide before the season starts and print it with the schedule.
